Private Cottage in Great Berkeley Location!
The cottage has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a full kitchen, a living/dining area, and a small patio. It comfortably accommodates two people, but a third (a small child) can squeeze in. The cottage is fully furnished and stocked with basic pantry staples, so you will have everything you need to enjoy your stay.
There is a small shared yard and garden.
The Cottage is located in the wonderful Northbrae neighborhood of Berkeley, which is ideally situated for enjoying the best aspects of the Bay Area.
Just around the corner is the Northbrae shopping area, which has the feel and vitality of a small European town, complete with an unrivaled produce market (Monterey Market), a fish market (Monterey Fish), a bakery (Hopkins Street Bakery), a butcher (Magnani's), a cheese and coffee store (Country Cheese Coffee Market), an artisanal beer/wine/liquor store (Northbrae Bottleshop), a world-class horticlitural center (Berkeley Horticultural Nursery), an outdoor café (Café Roma), a great pizzeria (Gioia Pizza), a Chinese restaurant (Lily's), and more! Here's a great, recent article from the New York Times about our neighborhood market (with some nice photos too): ("Spring’s Opening Act: Mark Bittman Revels in California Produce").
King Park, King Pool, and The Edible Schoolyard are just around the corner, providing a great spot for playing with kids, having a picnic, playing tennis, swimming laps, running or walking on the track, and more.
The "Gourmet Ghetto" shopping district — famous for Chez Panisse, The Cheeseboard, the first Peet's Coffee, Saul's Deli, and more — is a ten-minute walk away. The Solano Avenue shopping area, which also has wonderful restaurants and shops, is approximately 15 minutes away by foot, or a very short drive.
Downtown Berkeley and the University of California are approximately a 5-minute drive away, providing more restaurants, shopping, and cultural activities.
The cottage is very short drive to the freeway, making for easy day-trips to wine country, Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco, and various east-bay parks.
The list could go on and on! There's really no better place in Berkeley to experience the best the area has to offer.
The North Berkeley BART train station — which provides easy access to San Francisco, Oakland, and other Bay Area locations — is a ten-minute walk from the house.
