Timeless Views that never get old

Review by Tony Cicirello
We rented through Sullivan Properties. They were 5 star throughout the process and very accommodating. This is the 3rd condo/town that I've stayed at in this complex. Some are dated and some are recently renovated. D8 has been renovated in the last 5-7 years and is overall not a bad unit. In fact the only downside that made the trip an issue was the bed(s). All 3 of the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable. Very disappointing to wake up tired and sore every morning. Complex also has an overzealous security guard. She comes across as someone who takes her job very seriously...she was there each night to ticket vehicles and keep the noise down which for those going here with families should be aware of. There are fairly strict rules with noise after 9pm. There has never been any excessive behavior but security lady is trigger happy" and will gladly make up an excuse to say there's been complaints and that you need to keep it down. We played Euchre til 11pm and apparently that is living dangerously! Anyhow, the overall experience has always been fantastic. There are lots of eclectic individuals who visit and live there. Some of them need to lighten up but c'est la vie it's paradise so why complain. I hope the ocean does not continue to claim the beach front. No ka oi

Condo great "but"

Review by brandy
We checked in on Monday our condo was great. Very clean and furnished completely and we loved it. We were shocked when we went out on our balcony and seen all the big equipment there. We were even more shocked the next morning when the equipment started at 7am. We were still in bed. I do realize work needs to be done. But we were there for our neice's wedding. The beach was a disaster, the water was all brown and very ugly from the constuction. So the kids played in the pool. Which was fine except from 6 to 9pm was quiet time and we were told to leave the pool if we could not keep children quiet. This is the time kids need to play and get tired to go to bed. Very stupid rule. We were constantly being watched and complained about on the grounds. We had a contract for the rehersal dinner and the wedding from 5pm to 9pm. At 8:30 each night we were told to close it up. We had a contract till 9pm. If you were not going to honor that contract you should not have made it. We will not stay here again. It is very kid unfriendly. Also the ground keepers (mowers and weed eaters) ran every morning at the crack of dawn. We were very dissapointed in the grounds and atmosphere.

Always Lovely

Review by Maryellen Kirchen
The unit is lovely, even better when we were given a dvd so we could watch the movies and tv series we brought for our evening entertainment. However the mice problem was not expected and not appreciated. I've been coming to Kahana Sunset since 1977 and never had the problem until this year. I would have to tell anyone I recommend Kahana Sunset to about it. It would keep some people away.

great winter getaway

Review by michele
We recently stayed at the Kahana Sunset in Feb 2013. We had a family of 12. The youngest being 12. We rented 3 condos. One on the water, one on the beach and one with an ocean view. The rooms were all very nice, but there are some that are more updated than others. D1 on the beach was the best of all of the condos we rented. The little beach at the condo site is great for relaxing and also for small children. Grocery store is near by for convience. There are grills for cooking out which was great as the resturants are pretty expensive. Costco seems to be the cheapest groceries by the airport. The condo provides soap, shampoo, toilet paper, papertowels, garbage bags. maid service only if you stay longer than 7 days. The internet only worked in 2 of our condos, but there is an internet hot spot by the pool. There are a few boogie boards and tubes you can use there for free, but i recommend bringing your own tubes as people take them to their condos and keep them there. If you are looking for consistant weather for sunbathing, we found Lahania always sunny, even when it was raining at kahana. It is about a 10 min drive. Lots of shopping and food there too. I would recommend this condo for families with small kids, but with teenagers, we had to travel to find things for them to do.
