Wheres the beach?
Review by Maui vet
Kahana Sunset is generally a good property. The unit b1b was clean and well located near the centre of the complex. It appears to not have been updated for some time and pales in comparison to some units around it that we visited. At the time of our visit the complex was very quiet with an occupancy that appeared to be well below 50%!
The grounds are beautiful and well maintained , however there was construction taking place on the sea wall with , cement trucks , jackhammers and large machinery involved. The beach is literally being taken away by the ocean and whether the efforts to stabilize will be sucessful are unknown.
Another issue beyond the construction noise is the lack of soundproofing in the units. Several days into our stay a family with three young children moved into the suite above ours and there running feet often awakened us or made sitting in our unit unattractive.
If the issue with the vanishing beach and noise were taken out of the equation we would return to this lovely part of Maui.

I have stayed at Kahana Sunset many times F,B&E; building
B1B nicely decorated great kitchen only negative safe not available.Very disappointed that the beach was not available due to replacement of surf wall and noise of construction. Be back in Feb hope construction completed or be advised if not.

This was our third stay at Kahana Sunset, but our first stay in B1B, and we loved this remodeled condo. The location within the complex is perfect, as everything is only steps away, and there is no hot afternoon sun. This keeps the condo a pleasant temperature at night. The remodel of the condo is beautiful, and we've already recommended it to several of our friends. Kahana Sunset is very special and very well maintained. Nestled in a residential area, it is quiet and low key. The pool is small, but fine for dipping in to cool off. They have monitored pool "quiet hours" (pool use still allowed)from 6-9, so that guests can enjoy their BBQ time, decks and patios during the dinner and evening hours. There are no elevators to contend with, and you don't have to "save" your place on the beach, or have anyone step over you as you relax. It's all luxurious, golden sand, in and out of the water. There is no restaurant, coffee shop, gift shop or the likes on the premise, and that's part of what we like about it. There are several great eating and happy hour places (plus a grocery store) within walking distance. Lahaina and Kaanapali are an easy, short, drive away. It's always fun to go out, but at our 55+ ages, we find it best at the haven called Kahana Sunset.

We had a one bedroom condo on the ground floor near the pool area (which was quite quiet considering our proximity to the pool). The grounds were lovely with top notch bar-b-q's. Because we were an end unit, we had two lanais with tables and seating for 8 outside. The apartment was very spacious except for the toilet and shower area. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was great, within walking distance of Napili Plaza. The sea turtles were amazing!
