Mahana in Maui

Review by C9647AVlisat
This unit was fabulous! The owners have put a great effort in providing everything you need for a vacation. Beach chairs, ice chests, binoculars, even a pizza pan in the kitchen. It was also immaculately clean. Had a wonderful time!

Perfect Ocean View!

Review by A FlipKey verified reviewer
This property is exactly as described in the listing. It's clean, updated, and has a gorgeous ocean view. If you're up early on your first morning (or any morning actually), you can see a beautiful moon set. It was so peaceful and unexpected! The pool is nice and offers enough shade, if needed (always a concern for me and my fair skin). Having a condo gave us extra space for relaxing and enjoying breakfast before heading out for the day. I would only mention two things. There is a small poolside grill where you can get breakfast and lunch items. However, they close at 4:00, and there are no other options right on the property. It wasn't a problem for us and there is dining close by, but just know that if you're looking to be served drinks with tiny umbrellas, you won't get it here. You can walk next door to the next resort and eat/drink at Dukes, though. Also, the condo itself has a western exposure which gives you beautiful sunsets, but it also makes the condo very warm in the afternoons, with the sun coming in. Just be sure to close the blinds before you go out for the day, and that does help somewhat. Overall, I would definitely recommend this property. You will not get any closer to the beach and ocean from this spot, and you are just minutes from the quaint town of Lahaina.

Another great stay at the Mahana

Review by Leslie930
We stayed in Mahana 405 for our family spring break with our children ages 10 and 8. We had stayed in a 2 bedroom corner room at the Mahana previously so we knew what to expect in regards to the facility. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere, amazing view, close abundant parking, close proximity to grocery store, and ocean waves to lull you asleep at night that the Mahana provides. We were also aware of the exterior maintenance project prior to booking. The project work was ongoing during our stay but did not affect the quality of our trip. The work was being completed on the side of the resort we were staying in and aside from viewing the supplies and scaffolding in the parking lot which was no big deal it was barely noticeable. The work was accomplished during the day when we were either on the beach or out touring the beautiful island. The booking through Chase N Rainbows was smooth with all the information I would need (towel rental, door code, check-in information, and directions) provided prior to our departure from home. We did have a maintenance problem with the master bedroom toilet continually running at the end of our stay. I reported to Chase N Rainbows and they were prepared to send someone out ASAP to repair but we opted to use the additional toilet (2 bathroom unit) for the last day of our stay and allow them to have maintenance come in after we checked out the next morning. The unit was clean when we arrived. My kids slept on the fold out couch all week which was sufficient for young kids who were tired from time zone adjustment and swimming. The kitchen had everything I needed during our stay. We mostly used the kitchen in the unit my parents booked through the Aston management group to enjoy family meals together. There was not a dust pan with the broom in the closet so we purchased one at the Times Market when we bought groceries (there is one now). The closet had 3 beach chairs, a small cooler, some snorkeling and sand gear, as well as books if needed to use during the stay. The unit also had some DVDs to watch if needed. There was a computer and printer in the unit but we did not use it as we had our smartphones and used the printer in the lobby to print our boarding passes.Overall, a great unit at the Mahana. The pictures that are on the website when I booked accurately represent the unit. We researched several resorts and hotels when we decided to return to Maui with our family. We decided to stay at the Mahana again for the reasons I mentioned above and we were not disappointed.

Overall, the best

Review by Helen & Ken
We spent a few days at Waikiki, one week cruising to other islands and happily, came to Mahana last. It was the best part of the trip. I don't think I could ever get used to the views. They are spectacular, especially the sunsets. We saw turtles and dolphins right from the livingroom. Over the course of the week, I did not see any other condos so close to the water. The unit itself is beautiful and very well equipped. As I mentioned in the owners guest book, there are resorts with far more elaborate grounds and amenities but the Mahana overall, is the best. It is quiet and relaxing yet close to everything you might want to do. We booked through Chase N Rainbows. Very easy and smooth. One small issue with the washer that was fixed promptly. Since we are from the east coast and usually vacation in the Caribbean, this trip was supposed to be once in a lifetime. That went out the window once we got to Maui and the Mahana. We will be going back.

Lovely Unit/Setting, Quiet & Convenient

Review by Brian
We felt we received very good guidance/services in terms of selecting a unit for our stay on Maui, and the unit did not present any "surprises" for us. Parking was convenient as well. The unit was very complete, and although I "always" bring along small containers of bar-b-q seasonings, I needn't have done that, either! We liked the location, in terms of North of Lahaina a few miles, the quietness of the unit and condo complex, and the amenities, which included TV, laptop and printer (for our boarding passes!), etc. We'd definitely recommend the unit to a couple; four people would be somewhat "tight."

Wonderful vacation

Review by LBBUGS
First of all the views from inside the condo and from the lanai are unsurpassed. I took so many photos each night from both inside the condo and from the lanai. We saw whales, spinner dolphins and the sea turtle out front almost every day. The condo is more than amply stocked with everything you need from beach chairs, hats, cooking utensils ... You name it is there. We ate in most if the time since it was so relaxing. It is a short drive from many good restaurants and a couple of grocery stores are close. Wii fi was a little sketchy, it kept dropping me and then trying to hook me up with other units, esoecially from the lanai, but that was not a huge deal. We did have construction in another unit close by, but were warned ahead of time, however, the guy could have shut the lanai doors while sawing granite, I saw a couple of people on the lawn who were looking a little annoyed with the noise too. I just put ear plugs in, turned on my music and went to the pool. We had a faucet that started leaking, I called and they were right on getting it fixed. Would definitely stay again. Pool area is small, but was never crowded. Bbq areas are nice and extremely clean, hubby was impressed there. Never had to use the air condition, just let the trade winds cool it off. Dukes is just a short walk away on the few nights I didn't want to cook, and there is a great beach/boardwalk, we walked all the way to Whalers Village from the condo.

This was a perfect, prviate piece of heaven.

Review by Terry & Linda
The ladies at Chasnrainbows was beautiful to work with on this Vrbo rental (including booking the best deal on a rental car with Thrifty through "Chasn's web site). The Mahana is at the end of a street 1/3 mile from the main drive off the freeway. Very private. The unit is beautifully appointed, clean and the "50' from the sand" location is spectacular. Everything needed was included, although the portable bedroom fan could be larger for sleeping. The a/C is great, but shuts off when the sliding doors open. We left the oversized sliders open at night to sleep to crashing waves. It was pretty humid for sleeping. We loved the time on the large lanai watching whales, and boats and paddle boarders and beach walkers. Every meal that wasnt "out" or by the pool, was eaten on the lanai. My wife loved her au natural massage on the lanai (listeing to the waves) for her birthday. The bed is perfect -- firm and comfortable. Not a single bug in the unit during our 11 nights, and from the entry to the to the pool area is about 2 minutes. There's an Expedia expert in the lobby, who can help arrange activities, and usually get you at least a $25 voucher off many. The mini-mall across the highway is walkable (about 1/3 - 1/2 mile), with a large grocery store, places to eat (try Jazzy Java for eclectic style & singer/songwriter type entertainment), a chiropractor, etc. etc. The new Honua Kai condos are next door and you can use the common security gate to walk the Kaanapali Boardwalk or dine at the great Duke's restaurant located in the Honua Kai. And...10 minutes to Lahaina (Friday night art walk, etc.). We have already hooked friends up for next month at The Mahana, and we will be back.

Great value, amazing amenities, spectacular view

Review by Kyle
This condo was in great condition with all of the necessary amenities plus more. It really felt like home for the week and made our stay memorable. Everything in the condo was labeled and easy to find. The only issue was with the refrigerator and a repairman was sent out to fix it the same day we called. The sleeping sofa could have been more comfortable, so I marked it down one star. The pool was medium size and the large hot tub was refreshing. Both were clean and the pool deck was kept tidy. Check-in instructions and all the logistics were handled smoothly through Chase 'N Rainbows. Couldn't be more happy we found the Mahana resort.

Nicest accomodation Experience We've ever Had!

Review by Karen and John Agnew
The process of booking accomodation with Chase 'N Rainbows was easy and reassuring. We wanted a nice place and boy did we ever get it at the Mahana #405. The directions to the condo were great, the instructions for parking were easy and the condo itself was fabulous. The condo was decorated in "Tommy Bahama" style and was equipped with everything you could possibly need; including lap top and printer, snorkels, cooler, beach chairs, zip lock bags, saran wrap, foil, etc. The kitchen was fully equipped with great appliances and everything you would have in your own home. This unit is in a spectacular location, with awe inspiring views day and night. It was immaculately clean, with lots of towels, soaps, tea towels etc. It has lots of ammenities, community pool, and hot tub, tennis courts, barbecue. It was just great! Unit 405 was not cheap, but compared to what we paid at the Ritz Carleton, it was a much better deal and much nicer accomodation. It was really nice to have 2 bathrooms as well. We just loved it and would recommend it to anyone!

This was a beautiful location!

Review by Lynn
This is a one bedroom, 2 bath condo that we were fortunate to stay in for 10 nights. It was beautifully situated right on the water with an oceanfront walkway to other resorts. There was also a grocery store nearby so we were able to enjoy some meals in the comfort of the condo. The interiors were newly renovated and we were very comfortable. We would definitely go back to this place and would recommend it to friends and family!

Million dollar view

Review by Reggie
We stayed at the Mahana from Dec 7th to Dec 15th of 2012. Check in was easy. The condo unit was lovely. It had everything one could want for the time there. The location in Lahaina is great! Much better than say Kahalui or Kihei. The best was the view!! The million dollar view!! You just saw this amazing expanse of ocean before you every minute of every day. I was forever amazed and catching my breath at the beauty of it. On our last day, getting ready to leave, there was a whale not far off frolicking in the ocean, I could hardly believe what I was seeing! I would go back to Maui and the Mahana and laze in that beautiful beach again, next time for much longer than 8 days. The only problem with the unit was the sliding doors. The living room one you had to fight a little for it to lock, the bedroom one we could never got it to lock. Would I go back to Hawaii and the Mahana, yes, in a heartbeat. Unit 405 is lovely, but does need to have the doors fixed.
